Brian Joseph Robinson was born on May 7th, 1982 in Churchtown, Dublin, Ireland. His parents, Mary O'Dowd, a schoolteacher, and Hugh Anthony Robinson, an insurance broker are saints for putting up with him as long as they did. He is the youngest of four and was a handful in his early years, constantly getting in trouble at school. His mother decided one day, to put him on stage, with hopes that somebody else might want him, but instead, a star was born!
Brian and a friend entered a contest running by Fox in the early 2000's. The prize was a trip to America, and the chance to be in a Hollywood movie. All they had to do was re-enact a scene from a famous film. Brian picked Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Their entry won, and they were flown to New York city and got to be in Ivan Reitman's, My Super Ex Girlfriend. Now, having seen first hand how Hollywood makes movies, Brian was officially diagnosed with 'The acting bug'. (Click here to see their entry)
He started to take his craft seriously when he joined a prestigious acting school in Dublin. It was there, that his teachers taught him valuable acting techniques such as; "wasting your time" or "it's never gonna happen". With these new learned skills Brian was ready to take on the world, and it wasn't long before he found himself reading for a small part in Gary Shore's short film, The Draft. Impressed with Brian's gumption, Gary decided to give the part to someone else.... but cast Brian in the leading role instead! The film proved to be a big hit on the festival circuit. Now having played the lead in a real movie, Brian decided it was time....to move to Hollywood!
Initially, the move to America was difficult for Brian, he had trouble being understood, and he got confused by everybody telling him to "Have a nice day" - it's not like he was planning to have a bad one! But as the months passed, he finally got used to the Americanisms, and he joined in. Word! Although it wasn't all milkshakes and monster trucks. Brian was having trouble finding acting work and his euros were drying up quickly. But just when it looked like he would have to pack it in and move back home, he landed a guest star on the CBS show, 2 Broke Girls. Now, with an American credit under his belt, Brian was able to eat again, and get an agent, who would subsequently get him seen for major roles. And soon enough he booked a recurring role on VH1's Hit The Floor. He then went on to make an appearance in season 10 of the FOX network's hit show, Bones.
Around 2016 Brian noticed an orange glow forming on the horizon and it made him exceptionally nervous. He decided to move back to Ireland as that orange hue was getting more and more dense. Since moving back Brian has written, directed and produced a short film about his experience of delving into the world of sourdough bread baking. It did well on the indie film festival circuit and bagged him a 'Best Actor' as a 'Best Writing' award. It's currently available for viewing on the RTE player. He has also appeared in the Netflix show; Vikings: Valhalla, and will be appearing in season 2 of BBC's Bloodlands. He is also busy writing a slew of projects.
